FREE Chemistry Lesson Plans and Activities

I am always on the look out for fun and educational websites to use in our Homeschool. So excited because I just came across two really cool websites for Chemistry Activities and Lesson Plans for early elementary grades through 6th!!!!

Check out ACS Chemistry for Life with hands on Chemistry activities for younger children!!! There is a Science for Kids section under their Education tab. Activities for Motion and Energy, Body, Planet Earth, and much more! {Really most of the topics listed under Education would be great to utilize in your homeschool... I plan on it!} Tons of information!!!!

If you have kiddos in grades 3-6 check out ACS Chemistry for Life- Inquiry in Action!!! Here you have access to a whole book {470 page resource.....FREE TO DOWNLOAD} Inquiry in Action- Investigating Matter through Inquiry from the American Chemical Society!!! According to their web page this book teaches, "physical science and chemistry concepts using an inquiry-based approach that supports national content standards." They have activities, worksheets and ideas to extend the lessons!!!! All of this is FREE!!!

Just to give you an idea how awesome this book is Here is a break down { in the websites words}.

The book helps students:
  • Ask scientific questions and investigate them
  • Design experiments
  • Record observations
  • Draw conclusions
  • Communicate their findings
It also includes extensive science background for teachers, including:
  • Strategic questioning
  • Teacher demonstrations
  • Detailed procedures for experiments
  • Student activity sheets
  • Preparation notes
  • Assessments
Will be keeping my eyes open (as always) for more FREE and FUN resources to share!!! Don't forget that the first day of school is approaching fast, and it's never to early to start LESSON PLANNING!!! =)
