2015 Back To School Guide

Can you believe it is already time start lesson planning and getting ready for back to school? I must confess; I love the back to school season. Pouring over curriculum, planning our days, and finding new ways to keep learning fun is something that I can't wait to start doing every year. This year our daughter will be in 7th, my older son will be a 2nd grader, and the little one will be ready to start sign language, beginning counting and more at age one. Have been on the hunt for new and must have items for this back to school time of year over the pass few months, and am so excited to share with you some wonderful products!

*I received the products below for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own. May contain affiliate links. see disclosure.

National Geographic Kids has new titles debuting this school year, that are sure to captivate your child's attention, and help them develop a love for reading. These books are filled with vivid pictures and each series is geared towards different age groups and reading levels. There is the Look & Learn Series with colorful board books that are geared toward ages 2-5. The soft cover Explore My World Series are recommended for ages 3-7. The leveled readers in the NG Readers Series are perfect for ages 5-8, and the fourth series is the National Geographic Kids Chapters. These readers are a great transition to chapter books for kids ages 7-10 who are ready to move on to the next level in reading. The best part.... all of the National Geographic Kids' readers are budget friendly, so you can grab a few to expand your child's library at home this school year, and not break the bank. Around our home we like to keep entertainment educational when possible. I just love when we discover a show that is fun, entertaining, and educational. This year, I was able to check out the new release The Cinderella and Other Fairytale Adventures DVD that includes five Super Why episodes from PBS KIDS. Your children will learn to stop and think to make better decisions, use creative and clever thinking, trust to help their friends believe in them and more. They will also practice the alphabet, letter recognition, phonetics skills, and a huge emphasis is put on the Power of Reading books. Read more HERE (Giveaway has ended)

Teaching your kids geography can be a fun experience! Little Passports World Edition for 6-10 year olds is a monthly subscription kit that encourages a love of geography. Your children will learn about all different countries, and this kit has an interactive online component too. To start your trip, the first kit arrives filled with the supplies your child will need while exploring different countries around the world. You are introduced to Sam and and his best friend, Sofia who let them in on a secret; they made an amazing find in a relative's garage- a scooter with GPS to take them anywhere in the world. So the fun of discovering new countries in this World Edition kit from Little Passports begins. The following Little Passports World Edition explorer kits will arrive monthly with activities to do from a new country. You can learn more and Sign up on there website. Saxon Math Homeschool is a math curriculum with over 30 years of experience. According to their site it's"... the nations comprehensive and most thoroughly researched homeschool math program." Their philosophy is to develope topics in small steps over time to give students time to understand the concept. Then each text has continual review with daily practice problems. This means that each problem in every lesson is there for a reason to systematically review which is exactly what my daughter needs! Read more of my review HERE.

DropPlace offers vinyl back drops and floors that make it easy for homeschoolers to take their own school year pictures. They have 24 different categories of drops including vintage, windows, strips, scenic, weddings, kids, sports and many more. They even offer a line of custom back drops that you can personalize. These back drops and floors come in three sizes: 3'x4', 5'x6', and 6'x8' with a 1/2 inch white border around the edges. You are able to order custom sizing as well with some restrictions, but for my home, their standard sizes are more than adequate. The DropPlace back drops and floors can easily fit in a homeschooler's or even the homeschool co-op/group's budget for picture day this school year with prices starting at just $25.
