Smart One 3.1 Organic Cotton Cloth Diaper ~ Review

*I received this product free for reviewing purposes. I was not required to write a positive review. As always, all opinions {good or bad} are my own. see disclosure.

Since beginning to use cloth diapers on my son when he was about 4 weeks old, I have became hooked! Trying to find out how each type of diaper works, and what is the best fit for our family is quickly becoming an obsession. I was recently given the chance to try an All In One cloth diaper from Smart Bottoms- the Smart One 3.1.

Let's start with colors and patterns.....Adorable! The Smart One 3.1 has 12  options for your little one. I LOVE the way they mix up the all the vibrant colors and cute patterns with contrasting snaps. The cuteness factor on the Smart Bottoms diapers is through the roof, if you ask me. Here's a list of the 12 Smart One 3.1 color choices. To view all of these color options go here.

Now when it comes to prepping these diapers, I was in a brand new territory. The Smart One 3.1 is the first Organic Cotton cloth diaper I have ever used, so I followed the directions carefully. This diaper requires 6-8 washes to prep before the first use since it is designed with 100% Organic Cotton that has not had the fibers stripped with chemicals. The natural oils need to be thoroughly washed out, so that is will not repel liquid. After each wash I did the test recommended. This test is super simple just drip water on the diaper and if it doesn't absorb instantly then you should wash again. It did take our diaper 8 full washes to be what I would consider baby ready. I can promise you from my experience that all the washes are worth it, because I really love my Smart Bottoms cloth diaper for how it absorbs like a champ when my son is awake, and I can change him more frequently.

{More on what I thought about using it for extended periods of time below}

This All In One cloth diaper features 3 rows of snaps which helped me give our little guy a better fit. I felt like it was super trim too. Here are a few pictures showing the different size options using a Smart One 3.1.

The best time I have found to use the Smart One 3.1 All In One cloth diaper is when my son is active, but for nap time or bedtime/overnight it does leak if he really goes. For these times I needed to add a extra insert to stop the leaking around his legs. Now I will say that I feel like once he gets a little more of those baby chubs going on in his thigh area this will not be so much of a problem for nap time. He is currently 11 weeks and just over 11 lbs.

My husband has definitely become a fan of the All In One cloth diapers after using the Smart One 3.1. I usually have our AI2, Hybrids or pockets diapers stuffed and ready for him to grab up when needed. With the All In One he can fold the insert into place himself, so for Daddy diapering I truly love it too {less work for Mommy on laundry day}.

Overall I have fallen for the colors of the Smart Ones 3.1, and have added the Tie Dye, Finch and Emerson colors/patterns to my wish list! Once fully prepped they can absorb wonderfully, but your little one needs those precious baby chubs in the thigh area to keep the leaks at bay. These diapers are incredibly user friendly, and my husband and I definitely plan on adding a few more to the stash! One last thing I have to mention, especially this time of year, is that Smart Bottoms are Made in the USA! =)

  18. I've tried this AIO and its alright.
    I dont like that you have to wash 45097346509874 times before you get complete absorbency.
    And at $29.00 for one diaper. That is a little too much for me.
