Chubby Babies Cookies Good Natured Gourmet ~ Review and Giveaway

*I received the products below free for reviewing purposes. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own. see disclosure.

"No, thank you, I do not want a warm, fresh from the oven homemade cookie".....um.. yeah those words have NEVER left my mouth!!! I LOVE cookies! It's a weakness that I embrace. When I found out that Good Natured Gourmet had a line of cookies made specifically for nursing Moms, well I just HAD to try them.

Good Natured Gourmet, founded by a Registered Nurse and Baker in 2012, has a line for us breastfeeding Moms called Chubby Babies Lactation Cookie Mixes. They contain ingredients that are said to help Mommies produce more milk to help give our little ones some of those adorable baby rolls! They include barley flour, brewer's yeast, flax seed, whole grain rolled oats and calcium. Just one cookie gives you 25% of your calcium for the day too.

Here are the mouth watering cookie mixes offered in Chubby Babies Lactation Cookie Mix -Live Collection.

  • Oatmeal Chocolate Chip
  • Peanut Butter Oatmeal
  • Double Chocolate Oatmeal
  • Lactose-free Oatmeal Cranberry Cinnamon
I received the Double Chocolate Oatmeal and Lactose-free Oatmeal Cranberry Cinnamon cookie mixes, and be still my heart, they were both delicious! The mixes each needed just a couple simple ingredients added to blend it together. For the Double Chocolate Oatmeal all we needed to add was a 1/2 cup butter and 1 large egg, and for the Lactose-free Oatmeal Cranberry Cinnamon mix a 1/2 cup shortening, 1 tbsp water and 1 large egg. All of these ingredients are staples at my house, so we didn't have to go out and buy any specialty products which was very convenient.

The first cookie mix that we made was the Double Chocolate Oatmeal. Know that the Chubby Babies mixes are made for lactating Moms, but of course if you bake cookies around kids, it would be cruel not to share. My kids helped mix them up, and had to try them too. The package said that it would make 24 cookies, and it did. Not super tiny ones either, like other mixes I have used before. These were decent sized cookies, and two went very well with a little milk for a quick snack. We loved the chocolate flavor, and you could really taste the oatmeal as well. All of us have decided this was our favorite of the two.

Double Chocolate Oatmeal Lactaion Cookie Mix Ingredients: Whole Grain Oats, Sugar, Flour, Semi-sweet Chocolare Chips, Cocoa, Barley Flour, Flax Seed Meal, Brewer's Yeast, Baking Powder, and Salt.

After devouring the first batch of cookies we waited a few days and made the Lactose-free Oatmeal Cranberry Cinnamon mix. Besides the fact that I was distracted by a fussing little guy while they were baking and let them get a bit too brown, they were so tasty. The cranberries are a perfect addition to the cinnamon and oatmeal. I really liked how all the flavors blended to together with each addicting bite. Since these cookies lack chocolate something my kids seem to think makes a snack- a snack, I was able to eat most of them myself..Score!

Although the Chubby Babies Lactation Cookies are a special treat, and not necessarily a "health food" I still felt good about eating them. For one thing I knew exactly what was in them since the ingredients in the mixes are straight forward. Not one single ingredient that I had to search online to find out what it was, or if it was designed in a lab. Also for someone who is lactose intolerant, I do have a harder time making sure I get all the calcium needed daily especially while nursing. Just two cookies a day gives me 50% of my total calcium and only 240 calories. When it comes to eating the tasty cookies fresh from the oven made using Good Natured Gourmet Chubby Babies Lactation Mixes my answer will definitely be, "Yes please!!!" every time.

You can purchase Good Natured Gourmet Lactation Cookie Mixes from their website for $11.50 a mix.

  6. I would love to try the Honeymoons Chocolate Chip Romantic Cookie Mix. My husband would love any cookie that help set the mood. The cookie mix is made with ingredients to help set the mood and bring the evening along. I learned that honey is the sweetest aphrodisiac made by nature, Vitamin E is the aphrodisiac vitamin and that Ginseng increases stamina while decreasing fatigue and stress. This mix also includes vanilla because the scent of vanilla increases memories and emotions. This will be sure to be the most unforgettable cookie night ever.
