Staying Fit While Expecting ~ Knocked Up Fitness Review

Earlier this year, while everyone was making those get fit New Year's resolutions, I felt a bit left out. Then I was given the opportunity and sent Knocked Up Fitness to review. This Prenatal 2 DVD Set with Pilates-Infused Workouts were just what I had been looking for. Knocked Up Fitness is designed for active soon to be Moms, and they were created by Erica Ziel, a pilates instructor who specializes in pre- and postnatal fitness.

My very first impression after throwing in the Pilates-Infused Fitness DVD was I love how she is so personable not at all pushy, loud or in your face. The workouts have a relaxing peaceful feel to them, and the fact that she filmed them while preggers with baby number three herself was a huge plus. Even though I was working out in my own living room, I didn't feel like the pregnant lady alone in this effort to stay fit.

The Prenatal Set of 2 DVDs contain 7 very short workouts sessions that you can mix and match. With each DVD having an Intro and the Core Pilates Work out Disc includes a bonus short video with simple exercises you can do to work your pelvic floor muscles and transverse abdominals- great for helping with delivery!

DVD 1
"Pilates-Infused Fitness"

  1. Intro
  2. Core Warm up -requires an exercise ball, which I didn't have & 1-3 lb. weights
  3. Prenatal Fitness- only needed 1-3 lb. weights
  4. Pilates Arms- uses the included exercise band
  5. Pilates Legs- uses a chair for balance
  6. Total Body Pilates *no equipment needed

DVD 2
"Prenatal Core Pilates Workouts"
  1. Intro with Testimonials
  2. Core Cardio- uses the exercise ball
  3. Pilates Core (also called Pilates Yoga)- Uses included exercise band & a pillow
  4. Bonus- Understand Your Core
Since I am in the beginning of my third trimester, I LOVED that Erica included modifications for some of the slightly more difficult moves. I definitely used those because of this belly! She also encourages you to listen to your body, and if anything doesn't feel right, stop, get a drink of water, and join back in when you are ready. {*see note at bottom} My favorite four of the seven workouts are Prenatal Fitness, Pilates Arms, Total Body Pilates, and Pilates Core. Find myself doing these more often than the others, but to keep things fresh I do change it up everyday.

After working out with Erica, I feel more confident with my growing body, and sincerely hope I can keep up these short afternoon workouts until labor begins! I highly recommend the Knocked Up Fitness Prenatal 2 DVD Set! For me, it's a fun and stress free way to stay fit while expecting, and bouncing back quickly after our little guy arrives sounds wonderful. ~Amanda

  2. I have changed my diet to be higher in fruits/veggies, proteins and healthy fats and less refined sugars and white flour. We are also getting a membership at our local community center. I am half way through my pregnancy and have been way to sedentary this winter!
