Making Christmas Cards With The Heavy Duty Trimmer ~ Martha Stewart Crafts Review

I received the Heavy Duty Trimmer from Martha Stewart Crafts this year for review. Some of the features of this paper trimmer are an alignment guide, storage on top, a paper stop, and finger guard. One of my favorite features is the safety lock on the side to keep the sharp cutter blade in a locked down position. A necessity, in my opinion, for a house with small children.

We love to make homemade cards, and very simple projects especially around the holidays. My daughter and I decided to use the Heavy Duty Trimmer to help give us a head start on designing our Christmas Cards for this year. When I opened the box, I was very surprised by how light weight this Heavy Duty Trimmer is, but what it lacks in weight, it makes up for in precision cutting. This trimmer packs some major cutting power. It can slice right through 3 sheets of 12 x 12 card stock.

After looking through Martha Stewart Crafts Holiday Card ideas, we came across a very simple holiday card idea for kids, Cookie Cutter Christmas cards. To get started I cut some dark green card stock using the Heavy Duty Trimmer into 5 1/2 x 8 size. We folded these in half to be our card. Now for the fun part to decorate and embellish!

We began this next step by cutting burgundy card stock into 4 1/2 x 4 in sections. Which I then had my daughter attach to the front of her Christmas card.

Next we traced our Christmas Tree cookie cutter on plain white paper. After cutting out the Christmas tree, my daughter hand stamped Happy Holidays to the middle. She decided to add ornaments and a yellow star on top with markers. We then used our adhesive to add her Cookie Cutter Christmas tree to the front, and Viola! A finished, handmade with love Christmas card. Total time to design, cut our card stock and complete less than 5 minutes. Plus we already have the other pieces of card stock cut using the Heavy Duty Trimmer from Martha Stewart Crafts to make the rest of our cards on another afternoon a breeze.

I love how convenient and very easy to use the Heavy Duty Trimmer is. Both it's precision cutting through card stock and its safety features won me over. I highly recommend it to anyone. It would be a perfect addition to your crafting tools.

*I received this product free for reviewing purposes. As always, all opinions {good or bad} are my own. See disclosure.

  1. A good cutter makes the world of difference! I hate cutting cardstock and getting those weird frayed edges from a dull blade. Thanks for the recommendation.
