We are always searching for a family friendly movie that we can enjoy together on our movie night. It's hard to find a movie these days that my kids, husband and I will all enjoy. This week we were all entertained by the new release from Pure Flix, Pirate's Code: The Adventures of Mickey Matson the follow up to Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Treasure!

This movie begins with the prison break of two shady characters by a not so friendly looking modern day gang of pirates and their obviously evil leader, Admiral Ironsides (Frank Collison). Next the movie quickly dives into introducing other key players, and the previous accomplishments of Mickey Matson (Derek Brandon) with the Secret Order of Patriots (SOP) as he is recording a video journal of sorts while mentioning he is tired of being bored. There is no worries on the fact that he feels bored either since that situation quickly changes! Mickey Matson's life takes an exciting turn for him again, when he is taken to the Secret Order of Patriots headquarters and training grounds along with his best friend Sully (Francesca Derosa). Once there he finds someone he has missed dearly (Christopher Lloyd)!

Meanwhile Admiral Ironsides has a new invention, the Tesla Coil, which is a weapon of mass destruction that is capable of sending an elctromagnetic pulse throughout the world. He is also forcing the two prisoners he broke out of jail to help him. Things aren't going as planned for Admiral Ironsides in the beginning, but he proceeds with taking down the SOP. Everyone at the headquarters is captured and it's up to Mickey Matson and Sully to save the day. They are on a race against time to rescue their friends and family, and also stop the pirates from using the Telsa Coil that will take the world back to the stone age! Will they rescue their fellow SOP members, and can they stop Admiral Ironsides' plan? Make sure to watch Pirate's Code: The Adventures of Mickey Matson to find out, since I don't want to give away the ending.

Take a peek at the official movie trailer. It will give you a great idea of how exciting this movie is!

This movie had my seven year old, who loves pirates and spies, on the edge of his seat, and we all found the cool spy gadgets entertaining. I really like that it doesn't matter at all that we didn't view the first Mickey Matson adventure since all the background story from the original movie is given throughout this new release.  Pirate's Code: The Adventure's of Mickey Matson has quite a few twists and turns including a traitor right in the SOP. Mickey and Sully even receive some help from a couple unlikely partners too. This movie is Dove approved for all ages, and we never had to pause or have my kids cover their eyes for a second. Nice!! Pirate's Code: The Adventures of Mickey Matson is one movie we will be watching again!

  1. I think that Mickey Matson is a great adventurer on Pirates Code in that he was first at The Adventures of Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Treasure and now this.
