Shopping, battling the crowds, and picking up gifts for great prices are all part of the season that is in full swing this week with Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. I want to share with you a wonderful day that follows this huge shopping weekend ~ Giving Tuesday!
Even though we are all purchasing gifts to give to our loved ones, we usually will receive a gift in return too. Giving Tuesday is all about giving simply for the joy of giving without any expectation of receiving something yourself. There are so many wonderful ways to go about giving forward to someone who truly needs it this time of year, and Give Forward wants to remind you of ways to make that happen this Tuesday.
We all see or hear about others that need assistance, but most of the time we just stand by and assume someone else will help. I am guilty of this attitude myself. This year, for Giving Tuesday let's all come together and be that someone who helps another directly without expecting something in return.
One of the ways I will be giving forward this Tuesday, is by allowing GiveForward to make a donation in my name, as part of my compensation for this post, to Shah's fundraiser on GiveForward. This beautiful family is dealing with their son Andrew's cancer struggle. Unfortunately, some of his procedures that have already been completed are not going to be covered by their insurance, and they are looking at over $20,000 in medical bills.
I can't even imagine how they must feel having their medical debt pile up. Last year my husband became severely ill with multiple organs including his kidneys coming close to failing. We were scared, worried, and stressed with our budget stretched to the limit while he recovered in a relatively short time of just a few weeks. Luckily for us, nearly ever procedure, test, and doctor's visit was covered by his insurance with us only being responsible for a tiny fraction of the medical bills. Having bill's not covered into the thousands upon thousands of dollars has to have given this family, already trying to handle so much, more stress than necessary. I am thrilled to be able to give forward to them directly this Tuesday!
If you would like to donate or find out more about the Shah Family or even be connected with another wonderful cause to join this Giving Tuesday simply check out GiveForward.
What are some of the ways you plan to give forward to someone directly this year? I would love to hear about them, and they just may inspire others too, so be sure to leave a comment with your plans. ~ Amanda
