Well, TykesBykes did not disappoint! Let me start by giving you a little background into what the company is all about. TykesBykes is a family run business, with a "passion" for biking and keeping kiddos active. They noticed that most of the bikes for younger children were too heavy, and the training wheels allowed kids to tip over while not exactly teaching them to balance on their own. They believe that kiddos should have fun while learning to ride a bike, and that all the pain and frustration of learning to balance wasn't necessary. You know what, I agree 100%! That is why they have designed the Balance Bike, which doesn't have pedals and is low enough to the ground that your kiddos can learn to balance naturally.
~If you would like to learn more about what I think about "No Pedals" & how easy it was for my son to learn to "ride" his first 2011 Balance Bike check out my original TykesBykes Review.
One of the first things I noticed about their new 2013 Balance Bike was the awesome graphics and paint! The Green & White really pop and grab your eye. Perfect for young kiddos who want that first Bike to be super cool. The green & white colors work great for a boy or a girl too.
The best difference from my point of view is that the 2013 Balance Bike comes 85% assembled. Now to be honest, it didn't take us long to assemble the 2011 model I reviewed, but we did have to pull out our own tools. Not with the 2013 Balance Bike. All the tools you need are right there in the box when you open it, and the handbrake is already attached with the cable running through the frame connected to the rear drum brake, instead of on the outside of the bike, which saved us quite a bit of reading through instructions and time installing it. Took me just over 5 minutes to assemble! Great job TykesBykes.....Nice upgrade!!!
As a parent, I really love that the 2013 Balance Bike is made with an alloy frame and steel fork, the durability that a youngster needs in a first bike with out all the added weight. It is the perfect size and weight for your preschooler, but has the strength to keep them safe. It's max weight capacity is 110 lbs, and still only weighs 10 lbs, which I think is awesome! My son can easily pick up the bike, and I do not have any worries about him falling over with a heavy bike on top of him.
The Balance Bike seat even got an upgrade on this new model. Not only is it now green & white which matches the bike, but TykesBykes has added a grab handle to the back. A great way to slow them down, or just give me peace of mind because I can keep my Son still as we wait for traffic to pass by if needed.
Another thing I want to make sure and mention is that TykesBykes has a 2 year warranty on this 2013 Balance Bike. Please note that the Warranty excludes parts damaged through improper use or normal wear parts(such as tires).
~Overall I am extremely impressed with the 2013 Balance Bike from TykesBykes. Love all of the upgrades to the design. My Son agrees and loves the new colors and graphics. He also told me it is easier for him to squeeze the handbrake. Believe it is a wonderful bike for your little one who is ready to move to riding a 2 wheel bike. Know that using TykesBykes Balance Bikes has taken the stress out of teaching our son to ride on 2 wheels!!! ~ Amanda

Super cool. I remember your last review of the older model and I thought these balance bikes were such a cool idea! I'm planning to get my little guy one soon and see how he does with it!
ReplyDeletelove this bike the colors and how easy the assembly is and the fact it will help our little one be able to ride a bike
ReplyDeleteFrom an OT perspective, I love how there are no pedals and training wheels. Kids need to learn how to balance, NOT pedal. This is perfect!

i love that it's light enough for my son to pick it up and i don't have to worry about it crushing him if he falls
ReplyDeleteI love a couple things. First that it is lightweight and secondly, that those pedals won't hit them in the legs when they are trying to learn to ride a bike. I remember those days.
ReplyDeleteI love how easy they are to use and to transition to a regular peddled bike.
ReplyDeleteFirst off I love the green color! I also really like that it is lightweight and as someone had mentioned, I really wouldnt have to worry about it being to heavy and hurting my son. And already most of the way assembled? Fantastic! My husband and myself have been looking into a balance bike for our son for some time now.. This one seems perfect. My husband is very much into the local cycling community so hes hoping our little guy follows suit! Thank you for the chance to win!
