~Well this year on Thanksgiving I brought a new game for everyone to play... Spontuneous!
{pronounced ... spon- TUNE- ee- us}
First here's the rundown on how to play this board game that will have everyone laughing!
~It's really this simple: One player (the Tunesmith) says a word and the other players race against each other and the clock to try and blurt out a 5-word portion of lyrics from any song containing the given Trigger-Word! The player who begins singing first, gets to roll the dice and advance around the board! If nobody can sing a song, the Tunesmith MUST be able to back it up with a song of their own, or else they roll both dice and move backwards. As players advance around the board, certain spaces will require them to draw a Spontuneous Card and attempt a crazy challenge! Whoever reaches finish first & completes the final challenge, wins the game!
We loved this game! I will tell you right now that coming up with some great Trigger Words is the key. Some of the Trigger words we used were... Fork, Name, Rain, Cloudless, Wonder, Control along with many others. It is amazing how hard it is to actually stump the whole group because almost every time someone could think of 5 words from song lyrics to sing, bellow, yell or just say out loud before the time was up. By the way, Talent is not required.... thank goodness! =)
Spontuneous had us pulling out lyrics from so many different types of music including Pop, Rock, Alternative, Oldies, Hymns, Old School Rap and Christmas Carols.
Spontuneous is a fun game that all ages can participate in. My 9 year old daughter took the picture below for us, but she was also in on the fun! She added a lot of tunes from her favorite singers and even shows she watches.
One of the best parts is you can easily play teams if you choose too. Whether a it's just a few players or a whole group everyone can join in the fun, and we all took part. It took us a couple turns to get in the groove and feel like we were on track with the rules, but it was well worth it.
Spontuneous is a game that has and is winning awards, and it's so easy to see why. Not only can multiple ages all play and have a great time, but regardless of your musical tastes you will be able to find lyrics to match a Trigger Word.
~Here's a few of the awards and recognitions that Spontuneous has won so far....
2012 - The National Parenting Council Seal of Approval (TNPC)
2012 - PAL Award - Play Advances Language (awarded by a speech pathologist of 35 years)
2012 - PTPA Seal of Approval - Parent Tested Parent Approved

2011 - Dr. Toy's Best Vacation Products Winner
2011 - Creative Child Magazine's Creative Toy Awards - 2011 Game of the Year

Believe we played for over an hour, and we were laughing and joking together the entire time! I will definitely be taking Spontuenous to our Christmas Holiday get together!
