My new project.... an organic garden!

Now that school is out for the summer, I have started an organic garden! I am so excited to try this whole organic gardening thing out! 

We have, what I jokingly call, an urban garden. Our backyard is so tiny that I have had to get a bit creative on where I am planting. Thanks to my very willing to help hubby, since he found out we could save a bit on our grocery budget over the winter, I now have some really cool plots.

3 Ways Shopping Online Saves $$$$

You can snag awesome deals and save some green by shopping online.

 The first place I go to find a great deal is always the sale ads, but sometimes what I'm looking for just isn't in the ad. Should I give up and pay full price? NO... of course not!!!! You can find great deals, and save money by shopping online. Here are 3 ways I have found shopping online saves me money.

1.  You can shop around without spending money on gas.

 Let’s face it, gas prices should influence where you choose to shop…. If the store is 10 miles away, and you will save $10 buying what you need there. Is it really worth the extra 20 miles in gas to drive to that location and back? Nope, not to me! Especially when you consider wear and tear on your vehicle, and the gas to go that far.  In this instance, I always shop online.

  

2.      You can save money by using a promotional code.

Even though you cannot shop with all those clipped coupons in your binders, boxes, or files online, you can use a promotional code!!!!  A great place to find these codes is promotioncode.org. Codes will save you $$. You can find codes for anything from food, clothing, travel, electronics, gifts, toys….. the list goes on and on. These codes are free to use, and you can still shop at your favorite stores.

3.       You can shop in your pajamas or in your "I know it has a hole, but it’s so comfy" T-shirt and jeans!!!

 Ok, this one may just be silly, but you all know what I’m talking about. Sometimes you just don’t feel like going shopping…. I’d rather just shop from my dining room, and let the kiddos play! Maybe this doesn't save lots of $$, but it does save time and energy. Any busy Mom or Dad knows more time at home with your kids is priceless!

How often do you shampoo your carpets?

 Just returned home from purchasing carpet cleaner solution. We do not really have a set schedule for shampooing our home, and I'm sure it shows.... LOL.  Right now my son's bedroom carpet smells so bad, and it has to be cleaned ASAP! He apparently spilled chocolate milk in his room, and covered it up with his bedroom floor rug!!! Boys.... {sigh}

 So I am getting ready to shampoo, and was wondering how often do most people actually do it? Just wondering.... ;)

School's out and my life is crazy!!

I have been looking forward to summer break more than probably school age children do, and thought this week would be great for organizing my home. Also was planning on getting caught up on posts I had planned and writing reviews. {I do a lot of planning for myself.... when I'm not lesson planning. LOL}

Well, as I'm sure you have noticed, not many new posts or reviews up on the blog. That's because life has gotten in the way. Life has a funny way of saying, "Sorry about your plans, but you are going to spend the week with an injured husband running in and out of urgent care... Struggling to help him and take care of the kids. Oh, and just in case you thought you might have a few minutes... your daughter's dance recital is also going to take up the rest of your time. Maybe you can start on your plans next week .... or I might get in your way again. Hahaha!!!! {think dark, evil bad guy laugh here}" 

Ok I know "Life" isn't really laughing at me, but after all we have been through this week I need to blame something or someone! ;)

Going through all this with my husband, and the drama that went with my daughter's dance recital. {2 recital practices this week, and then staying up half of last night working with my daughter to help teach her the dance myself! I'm not the most coordinated dancer by any means either Her dance instructor quit without notice, and the new one was tossed in teaching 9 different classes. Then got all the dances confused while trying to finish up the routines.... total madness} Anyways..... I have decided I need to quit getting so caught up in planning my days/ life, and at least leave a little room for the unexpected.  

If anyone has had a stressful week or has any words of encouragement to share.... please do! Kinda struggling here. I could so use some "been there it will get better" comments.

Math Blaster Review

                 Reviewing Math Blaster was a bit of a trip down memory lane for me.  When I was homeschooled, my Mom also used educational games as a fun way to review math facts…. And she purchased us Math Blaster! Always loved playing it, and didn’t even realize I was learning at the same time. Now, years later, as a homeschooling Mom, I see all the benefits of this great website to help my kiddos review their math skills!!!

 As a parent I am really impressed with all the gaming options Math Blaster has available!  This game will grow with your kiddos both in age and skill.  There are tons of games to choose from too!

For example…Are your kids into racing? If so, there are four games available, and two of my favorites are HyperBlast Training {math facts- +,-,x and division- you choose the level} and Bolt Cruncher {fractions, decimals, percents, and 3D figures}.
